Award，Reward的辨析

这两个词音、形相似，但意义和用法例外。

（1）award用作及物动词时，表示“授予（奖品等）”、“给予”、“判给”的意思，后接sth.（to sb.）；用作名词时，意为“奖品”、“奖金”。如：They awarded scholarships to the best students.

他们把奖学金授予最佳的学生。 He was awarded first prize. 他获得了一等奖。

The Judge awarded him￥5,000 as damages. 法官判给他损害赔偿金5000元。

The film awards are presented annually. 电影奖一年颁发一次。

（2）reward用作及物动词时，意为“报答”、“酬劳”、“奖赏”的意思，后接sb.（for sth./ doing sth.）（with sth.）；用作名词时，作“报酬”、“奖励”、“报答”解。如：

How can I reward you for your help？我怎样才能报答你给的帮助？

Anyone who finds it will be rewarded. 凡找到它的人都将获得酬谢。
