Friendship is an eternal topic. Life can't go without friends. On the journey of life,

we come across different passengers at different stops and we all have our own unique criteria in making friends. Generally speaking, moral quality is what we consider most when building a relationship with a person. That includes respect, honesty, goodness and so on.

First we talk about respect. Respect is the basic rule in communications for every individual has the right to be respected, regardless of his skin color, social status or daily income. As good friends, respect is essential. No one is willing to stay with a person who shows no respect, let alone recognize him as a good friend. Next is the honesty. We are told that a person should be honest when we are little kids in primary school or even in kindergarten. Unfortunately this has slipped form some persons' memory when they grow up. So we all long for an honest friend who can open his heart to us and tell us everything about him without covering his privacy. After all, having a heart-to-heart conversation with a close friend is really a great pleasure. Another important quality is kindhearted. A person who possesses a kind heart will never hurt you deliberately and offer you timely comfort when you are in low spirits. You can share your sorrows with him and then he will try to stand in your shoes and give you some useful advice. So kindhearted is also an important criteria when making friends.

The qualities listed above is just some of the most universal criteria in choosing a good friend. There are also some other criteria such as hardworking, well-educated etc. Different people have different thoughts about what their ideal friends would be. So in a word, everyone has his criteria in making friends.
