How to Write a Fun Postcard About Your Vacation!

Hi friends! It's me, your pal Jonathan. I just got back from the most amazing family vacation ever. We went to this awesome beach and had so many adventures. I can't wait to tell you all about it!

First, you'll need a postcard to write on. Postcards are like little square pieces of thick paper with a picture on one side. When you go on vacation, you can buy postcards with pictures of that place. The front shows a cool photo and the back has space to write a message.

My postcard has a beautiful picture of the ocean with sand, palm trees, and a bright blue sky. I got it from a little souvenir shop right on the beach. The shopkeeper was really nice and let me pick out my favorite one.

Now for the fun part - writing your message! You don't have a ton of space on a postcard, so you have to make every word count. Here are my top tips:

Start with a greeting like \"Hi!\" or \"Hello from [Place Name]!\" So mine could say \"Hello from Turtle Beach!\" to get my friend's attention right away.

Next, set the scene in just a sentence or two. \"I'm having an awesome time at the beach with my family. We're staying in this cool beachy hotel right near the ocean.\"

Then move into some details about the cool stuff you've been doing. Like \"Yesterday we went snorkeling and saw so many tropical fish! I even spotted a tiny shark which was both scary and amazing. We also collected a bunch of pretty seashells along the shore.\"

Don't forget to mention any funny or silly moments too. \"My little brother got sunburned and looks like a tomato! But he still smiles because he's been eating ice cream every day.\"

Wrap it up by saying you're having an amazing time and can't wait to tell them more stories when you get home. Something like \"This place is paradise! I never want to leave but I'm excited to see you and tell you even more crazy beach adventures. Stay cool!\"

Finally, you can sign off with your name and a smiley face or other doodle. I always add a silly drawing to my postcards.

That's all there is to it! Just remember to: Get a cool postcard Greet your friend Set the scene

Share details and stories Mention you'll tell more later Add your name and a doodle

Once you've written your message, just add a stamp and put it in the mailbox. Your friend will be so excited to get a postcard from your awesome vacation spot.

I hope these tips help you write the perfect postcard. Sending a little note is such a fun way to share your vacation memories with your friends back home. You'll definitely make them jealous of your amazing trip!

Let me know if you need any other advice. But for now, I'm off to hunt for more seashells and soak up some more sun before we head home tomorrow. This beach life is the best! Your friend, Jonathan

My Summer Vacation Postcard

Hi! My name is Emily and I'm 10 years old. I just got back from the best summer vacation ever in Hawaii! Mom and Dad said I should write you a postcard all about my trip in English practice. Here goes!

Dear Grandma and Grandpa,

I'm writing to tell you about my awesome Hawaii vacation! We flew on a huge airplane to get there. I had my own TV screen and got to watch movies the whole flight. Flying over the ocean was so cool - it looked like a giant blue carpet below us. When we landed in Hawaii, it was super hot and humid outside. The airport smelled like fresh flowers. A lady put a big colorful lei necklace made of flowers around my neck. It smelled really nice.

We stayed at this gigantic beach resort with pools

everywhere. Our room was right near the beach too! I could see the turquoise ocean water from our balcony. The first thing I did was make a sand castle on the beach. The sand was so soft and white - much better than the stuff at home!

Every morning, we ate a big breakfast buffet. There were these ladies making fresh malasadas (Portuguese donuts) right in front of you. They were hot and coated in sugar - sooooo yummy! I think I ate like 20 of them during our trip. There was also an omelet bar where you could get omelets made anyway you wanted. My favorite was getting them stuffed with ham, cheese, and pineapple.

After breakfast, we'd head to the beach or pools. The ocean water was incredibly clear and a pretty teal color. I saw so many tropical fish swimming around when I went snorkeling. One day, we went on a boat tour and got to see some spinner dolphins jumping out of the water! They looked like they were doing tricks.

For dinner, we ate at different restaurants every night. One night we had a Hawaiian luau with a big buffet, hula dancers, and a fire dancer! He was twirling these flaming batons around - it was both awesome and scary at the same time. Another night we ate at a teppanyaki grill where the chef did all these cool tricks while cooking our food on a flat grill top right in front of us. He tossed shrimp tails into his hat and made a volcano out of onion rings!

When we weren't at the beach or a restaurant, we went on some fun adventures. We took a helicopter tour and flew over waterfalls and an active volcano. From up high you could see the bright orange lava oozing out - it was crazy! We also went ziplining through the jungle, swinging from tree to tree on ziplines. I was a little scared at first but ended up having a blast. On our very last day, we climbed to the top of Diamond Head crater. It was a tough hike with lots of steps, but the view from the top looking out over Waikiki beach was worth it. We could see our hotel and the whole town below us.

I had such an incredible time in Hawaii and didn't want to leave! I tried so many new foods, saw amazing things, and made so many fun memories. I can't wait to go back again someday. Thank you for letting me tell you all about my awesome trip! Love, Emily

P.S. I included some of my favorite pictures so you could see everything!

Hi! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. My family went on a really fun trip last summer and I want to tell you all about it by pretending to write a postcard! Dear Grandma and Grandpa,

I'm having the best time ever on our family vacation in Hawaii! We flew here on a big airplane and I got to look out the window for hours and hours at the clouds and the ocean below. It was so pretty from way up high.

When we landed in Hawaii, it was SO hot and sunny outside compared to back home. The airport smelled like flowers and the air felt nice and warm on my skin. We got our rental car and drove to our hotel right on the beach. I could see the bright blue ocean waves crashing on the sandy shore right from our hotel room window!

The next morning, we went down to the beach behind our hotel. The sand was so soft between my toes and the ocean water was perfectly warm, not too hot or cold at all. We played in the waves for hours, boogie boarding and building sandcastles. I even saw some little fish swimming around my feet which was cool but a little scary at first!

For lunch, we stopped at a food truck near the beach and I had the most amazing fresh pineapple I've ever tasted. It was juicy and sweet and so flavorful. We also tried some Hawaiian shave ice which is kind of like a snow cone but about a million times better with fun tropical flavors. I got a rainbow one with all the colors and flavors swirled together. It was delicious and very refreshing in the hot sun.

Another day, we went on a hike through the jungle to see some beautiful waterfalls. The trail was a little muddy in some spots but I didn't mind getting my shoes dirty one bit. We saw so many exotic flowers and plants that I had never seen before, with weird shapes and bright colors. And the waterfalls at the end were breathtaking! The water was crystal clear and tumbling down over huge cliffs into pools that you could swim in. I loved listening to the roaring rush of the falls.

One of my very favorite activities was learning how to surf! We took a lesson from a kind Hawaiian instructor who taught us first on the sand how to pop up on the board, and then we finally got to try it out in the ocean. I only fell a few times and it was so much fun riding the waves, sort of like being on a roller coaster! The instructors said I was a natural. Maybe I'll be a pro surfer when I grow up!

We also went on a boat tour around the island one morning and saw some incredible marine life. Dolphins were swimming and jumping right alongside our boat, putting on quite a show for us! And we got to see a bunch of green sea turtles lounging on the beach in a protected cove area when we went ashore on a tiny island for a hike. They were so big and peaceful just soaking up the sun. Our guide told us they can live to be over 100 years old!

In the evenings, we loved walking around the little beach towns, going in the fun souvenir shops and trying some authentic Hawaiian cuisines like kalua pork, poi, lomi lomi salmon, and haupia coconut pudding. Everything was so fresh and full of flavor. Sometimes we would get a treat of shave ice again for dessert! We also got to see some hula dancers perform traditional dances and it was amazing how graceful they were. I've had such an incredible time in Hawaii, Grandma and Grandpa! We've made so many wonderful memories snorkeling, hiking, relaxing on the beach, and trying new foods and activities. I can't wait to come home and tell you more stories and show you all my pictures and souvenirs. I miss you and love you! Xoxo, Jamie

Hi! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. Today my teacher gave us a fun assignment - we have to write a postcard from somewhere we went on vacation! I'm going to pretend I went to Hawaii because that's my dream vacation spot. Dear Mom and Dad,

Aloha from Hawaii! I'm having the most amazing time here on vacation. When we got off the plane, I could already feel the warm sunshine and smell the tropical flowers. It's so beautiful here!

Our hotel is right on the beach and has the most incredible view. From my window I can see the sparkling blue ocean stretching out to the horizon. The sand is white and soft between my toes. There are tall palm trees swaying in the gentle breeze. Yesterday, we went snorkeling for the first time. The water was crystal clear and I could see so many colorful fish swimming around the coral reefs. I even saw a green sea turtle! My favorite fish was the humuhumunukunukuapua'a - it's black with yellow stripes and has a funny name. Snorkeling was a little scary at first but then I got used to breathing through the tube. I can't wait to go again.

Last night, we attended a traditional luau on the beach. There was dancing, music, and the most delicious food! We got to try kalua pork, poi, haupia, and poke. Everything was so yummy. For dessert, we had coconut cream pie. The dancers were incredible with their grass skirts and impressive fire dances. I tried learning a few hula moves myself!

Today we are going on a boat tour to see some whales. I really hope we spot some swimming or breeching. I bought a little stuffed whale to remember the trip. We also want to go hiking through the jungle to see some waterfalls. And I definitely need to get a fresh pineapple straight from the farm before we leave!

I'm having the most wonderful time in Hawaii but I miss you both so much. I can't wait to tell you all about my amazing adventures when I get home. Send kisses to Grandma for me! Love, Emma

That's my postcard! I tried to include lots of details about what I would see and do in Hawaii. I described the beach, hotel view, snorkeling, luau, whale watching, hiking, and eating Hawaiian food. I used descriptive words like sparkling, crystal

clear, and delicious. I also mentioned some unique Hawaiian things like hula dancing, fire dances, poi, and the

humuhumunukunukuapua'a fish. At the end, I said I missed my parents which a kid would probably feel when traveling. What did you think? I hope my teacher gives me a good grade! Writing this postcard made me want to go to Hawaii for real one day. Maybe for my 11th birthday!
